‘Don’t go splashing out...’
RESIDENTS are being urged not to waste water after a drought was declared across eight areas of England.
Water companies have issued advice to keep showers to four minutes, tip bath water on plants and forget about cleaning dirty cars. Anglian Water asked people using paddling pools to empty them in their gardens.
Affinity and Wessex Water urged flushing the toilet “only when you need to”. And Thames
Water asked customers to let lawns turn brown, collect rain in buckets, spray plants in the morning and turn off the tap when brushing teeth.
As Yorkshire Water becomes the fifth to announce restrictions,
South East Water, South West Water and Welsh Water are soon to follow suit.
And Thames Water will have a temporary hosepipe ban in place in several areas in the “coming weeks”.
