Cash guru coughs up

- By Jack Clover

FINANCE guru Martin Lewis has admitted he once splashed cash on two oddball items that don’t work very well – on purpose.

He did it after selling his Moneysaving Expert website for £87million but even then he didn’t spend big.

Martin bought a Theremin, an instrument used on the Star Trek theme tune, that was “crap” but not “very expensive at all”.

And he snapped up a Van der Graaff static electricity generator with a “very limited shock” on ebay for £45.

Martin told podcast Parenting Hell: “Everybody kept saying, ‘You just made all this money, what are you going to spend it on?’

“I thought, ‘I’m going to buy something on impulse just so I’ve got an answer.’

“Those are my two lifetime impulse buys.”
