IS A BIG HITTER

-

so scouts (Kevin Dunn) wants a ladies’ team, the country to form the Rockford Peaches. But he’s horrified to see these muscly women who spit and swear and... shock horror... wear trousers.

An engaging ride through sport, and sexism, racism, sexual awakenings road trips across a rapidly changing America, this one has smashed it out of the park.

THE Secrets She Keeps was back on BBC1 last night with more of the same. The first series was a gripping thriller as Agatha (Downton’s Laura Carmichael, left) became obsessed with a mother and kidnapped her baby.

In the end, baby Ben was returned unharmed, but the story should have just ended there.

In series two, it’s two years later and it’s time for Agatha to be tried in court. Meghan (Jessica De Gouw) and Jack (Michael Dorman)

remain deeply affected by the trauma, with their family firmly in the spotlight. Agatha is in prison, not taking her medication, and getting friendly with a pregnant inmate.

When an investigative journalist harasses Meghan for information, it sends her into a rage.

By the end of the episode, Meghan is in prison covered in blood, about to be charged with murder. But whose? It’s not clear, but I’m not invested. A series that feels like an afterthought.
