Lowe’s shock seeing Potts’ scissor-kick cut up Hatters

-

RYAN LOWE admitted he was as surprised as anyone to see Brad Potts’ wonder goal fly in.

Potts launched himself into the air in the 18th minute to meet Robbie Brady’s ball to the back post with a flying scissor kick.

It looked like something out of a martial arts manual – and the 28-year-old certainly gave it a belt.

North End manager said: “I saw him in the air with his two feet up and thought, ‘What’s he doing?’ – and it hits the back of the net! Pottsy has fantastic goal-scoring attributes, he’s had that all his career.

“What I’m pleased with is it’s one wing-back crossing to the opposite wing-back and scoring a goal. Now, hopefully, there is more to come.”

Preston hung on to record a first Championship win of the season and leave Luton still searching for theirs.

Home fans were annoyed with referee Dean Whitestone, who declined to award a penalty in each half when Elijah Adebayo was upended.

Preston’s time-wasting also stoked up fan fury but the Hatters only had themselves to blame as Allan Campbell and sub Cauley Woodrow missed clear second-half chances.

Luton boss Nathan Jones was annoyed Potts had nipped in behind Amari’i Bell for the winner.

He said: “It’s wingback to wingback. If Amari’i defends that then it’s a draw. But we are not far off.”
