Truth blow for Tories
LABOUR leader Sir Keir Starmer is more trusted by the public to tell the truth than either Tory leadership candidate – or ousted PM Boris Johnson.
An Ipsos poll found 61% thought Mr Johnson told the truth “not very often” or “never” – almost double the number who thought the same about Sir Keir.
Just 23% reckoned Tory leadership hopeful Rishi Sunak told the truth all or most of the time, ahead of Liz Truss with 22%.
A paltry 18% trusted government ministers to tell the truth. But Kelly Beaver, CEO of Ipsos UK: said it did not necessarily mean “smooth sailing” for the Labour leader.
While the number trusting him is unchanged on 30% since June 2020, those distrusting him rose from 19% to 33%.
