‘6m may end up homeless’
SIX million people are feared to be at risk of homelessness this winter as the cost of living crisis bites.
More than one in five of us could not pay our bills for a single month if we lost our income and most could only last three months, according to the Howarth Housing Group.
Managing director Benjamin Howarth said: “Often, the public perception of homelessness is of a person sleeping in a doorway.
“The truth is most people in this devastating situation are families, people fleeing domestic violence, people in overcrowded housing and those with long-term debts.
“More than six million could become homeless very quickly.”
