Books on the Boyle

- Karen Rockett

COMEDIAN Frankie Boyle is starting a new chapter – he has just published his debut novel and is planning a second.

And the former Mock the Week star, 50, said he would love to quit showbiz and stay at home writing.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Book Festival, he said: “I’d much rather segue into writing novels and just stay in the house and not travel so much if I could. You don’t have to do the gigs. You don’t have to go and sell it to people.”

Glaswegian Frankie, 50, said writing helps him come down after performing. “You might as well write because you’re not getting to sleep,” he said.

His dark comedy crime novel, Meantime, is set after the 2014 Scottish independence referendum.
