MP’S Islam probe fear
FORMER transport minister Nusrat Ghani has abandoned hope of a Tory Islamophobia probe promised by Boris Johnson.
Ms Ghani, 49, said: “I have tried to progress this but it’s clear nothing is going to happen.”
The Tory MP said she was told by a party whip that her “Muslimness” made colleagues uncomfortable and was one reason she was fired from her ministerial post in 2020.
The Prime Minister agreed to hold an inquiry led by his ethics adviser Lord Geidt but the peer quit in the row over No10 lockdown parties.
Now the PM has dumped the problem on his successor – either Foreign Secretary Liz Truss or exchancellor Rishi Sunak.
Former Tory chief whip Mark Spencer has denied telling Ms Ghani her religion was a problem.
