The British Lawnmower Museum
Southport, Merseyside
FROM vintage lawnmowers to antique garden machinery of every kind, the British Lawnmower Museum has cut a tidy nook as one of the world’s leading authorities on all things mowing.
As well as being full of fascinating kit, it supplies parts and gives valuations for machines from all over the world. The lawnmower was patented in 1830 by Edwin Beard Budding – but designed to trim cloth. At the time people thought he was mad to use it to cut grass, so he had to test the machine at night so no one could see him. ADMISSION: Adults £3, Children £1
