Klopp calls for points if fans protest

-

believed to have formulated plans to contain a planned protest outside the stadium before kick-off.

In May last year, amid violent scenes, police and stewards were unable to stop marauding supporters storming the ground and forcing the game to be called off as they protested at the despised Glazer family, the club’s American owners.

This time, say club sources, a more robust plan is in place to deal with any threat to the game.

But Anfield boss Klopp added: “We have nothing to do with the situation. If the supporters want the game not to happen then we can’t just rearrange the game and fit it in somewhere in an incredibly busy schedule.

“If they tell us we are fine then we go there to play and then go home. But I really think in a situation like this then the other team should always get the points like we should have last time.”

The 1958 fan protest group has called on supporters to mobilise at Old Trafford tomorrow and “bring the heat” to vent their fury at the American owners.

It wants United followers to turn out in force at the stadium’s statue of George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton.

A spokesman said: “It is not about confrontation. Anything else plays completely into the Glazers hands. Bring the heat, bring the noise, bring the passion.

“Let’s show the Glazer family that this time it will not blow over.”
