Ron of the HARRY HEADS A MILESTONE IN

- AT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM

HARRY KANE marked 10 years of top-flight football by sinking Wolves with Tottenham’s 1,000th Premier League home goal – in front of footballing royalty.

The striker, 29 – who made his debut on August 18, 2012 – spent the first decade of his Premier League career amassing 184 goals in the competition.

And with Brazil legend Ronaldo watching on, the header with which Kane entered his second decade was, naturally, a record breaker.

It moved him one clear of the number of goals Sergio Aguero scored in the top flight for Manchester City, meaning no player has scored more goals for one Premier League club than the Spurs man.

He now needs only 17 more in all competitions to surpass Jimmy Greaves’ clubrecord of 266 for the north Londoners.

There will have been an approving nod from Ronaldo, a man who certainly knew the way to goal.

There was nothing particularly special about Kane’s close-range header – a well-worked near-post corner from Son Heung-min flicked on by Ivan Perisic for Kane to nod home.

The beauty for someone like Ronaldo, however, will have been the fact it broke the deadlock in a game in which, until that point, Kane’s side had largely been on the back foot.

Certainly, that pleased boss Antonio Conte, who said: “Harry is a player who has to make the difference because of his quality and ability. We are talking about a really world-class striker.

“He can be dangerous in every area of the pitch and we tried to exploit him and to give him the possibility to score.

“The big surprise about Harry is not from the football aspect, though, it’s the person.

“We are talking about a really good person, a really good man.

He’s always ready to help the team, to work for the team.

“Usually when you have this type of player they can be a bit lazy without the ball.

“With the ball, good, with the ball, no – ‘I’m not going to run because I have to be fresh’.

“I know he has reached another big personal achievement but we are working to have a big achievement for the team and for the club. Every player is prepared to exchange an individual achievement to win a trophy.

“The path is difficult and the path is long but we are ready to do this.”

Spurs have taken seven points out of Southampton and Wolves at home and Chelsea away, having taken no points from those games last season.

Conte added: “I was worried when I saw the schedule. I said, ‘If we get the same results as last season, we stay after three games on zero points’.

“To get seven points shows this team is improving in every aspect.

“There’s great chemistry between us and we are ready to overcome difficulties.”

Kane said: “It has been a fantastic nine or 10 years in the Premier League.

“Hopefully there are plenty more years to go.”

Wolves new boy Matheus Nunes had their best chance with a deft header after Ruben Neves stood a ball up to him but it drifted inches wide.

And Kane headed against the bar shortly before making the breakthrough.

Wolves boss Bruno Lage said: “The first half was very good for us, we controlled the game with and without the ball.

“We saw the chances we created but in the end we had no points so we go home with frustration but confidence we can play in this way.

“With a performance like this I’m sure we can have a good season.”
