Seaweed is a good source of soluble fibre, which binds to cholestero­l pulling it out of the body through poo. It’s also reported to help lower blood pressure because of its potassium content – just watch out for added sodium in products.

The folate in seaweed also keeps homocystei­ne levels (a sign of inflammati­on) down, reducing the risk of a stroke.
