Aasgaard of honour as he curls home a late worldie
THELO AASGAARD curled in a brilliant 88th-minute winner as Wigan staged a late comeback at Luton and manager Leam Richardson was celebrating before the ball hit the net.
“My arm is in the air before he hits it because I have seen him do it a million times in practice,” said the Latics boss.
“If he carries on going as he has been he will have an exceptional career.” Wigan had looked comfortably
Morris 39 second-best for the first hour but then a Tom Lockyer own goal and Aasgaard’s winner turned the game on its head.
“We have only lost one and we are doing all right,” Richardson said.
“We have to remind ourselves that we are 12 months out of administration with a couple of players and no staff and we are going toe-to-toe with teams like Luton.”
Luke Freeman and Lockyer went close before Carlton Morris headed the home side into a 38th-minute lead.
The chances continued to come Luton’s way in the second half but a triple switch on the hour saw
Wigan gain some momentum and they pulled level 10 minutes from time when Callum Lang’s shot was deflected in by Lockyer.
Then, with two minutes left, Aasgaard curled an effort in to the top corner.
“I’m baffled how we lost,” Luton manager Nathan Jones said.
