Caretaker Hudson has got his Bluebirds flying again

-

MARK HUDSON’S impressive start in the Cardiff hotseat continued as his side brushed aside Wigan.

Since Hudson took the helm, the Bluebirds have taken seven points from a possible nine.

However, the former defender insists he is not getting ahead of himself.

He said: “Let’s not get carried away. It’s been a really good week.

“Testament to the players, they’ve showed their support to the fans who have travelled and earned the right to get those points. But we have to go again and switch our minds to Saturday.”

After the game was delayed due to the Wigan goalposts being two inches too high, the opener came after seven minutes when Callum Robinson took his chance coolly.

The lead was doubled five minutes after the hour mark thanks to Sheyi Ojo.

The home side got a goal back when Charlie Wyke, who was starting his first game at the DW Stadium following a cardiac arrest last summer, nodded in from a Tom Naylor cross but Ryan Wintle sealed the points. Latics boss Leam Richardson, who performed life-saving CPR on Wyke, was delighted to see him back amongst the goals, despite the result.

He said: “It’s always nice to see your strikers get on the scoresheet. I’m just disappointed it wasn’t a goal that meant something in terms of the result.”
