Rocking Robins is counting his good fortune at long last

- By GRAHAM THOMAS

MARK ROBINS believes Lady Luck has finally been sent to Coventry – and not before time.

The Sky Blues manager saw his side earn their first away victory since April thanks to a goal from Viktor Gyokeres, a gritty backs-tothe-wall display and the fortune of a strange decision by referee Robert Madley.

Coventry were hanging on to a first-half lead when Callum Robinson appeared to equalise in the 50th minute, before Madley had a prolonged chinwag with his assistant.

The goal was ruled out for offside after the ball had struck Coventry skipper Kyle Mcfadzean and Robins said: “We’ve had no luck this season when we needed some, but we got a bit today.

“We’ve been outfought here in the past, but this time we weren’t and we ended up with three points and a much-needed clean sheet.”

It meant a first defeat for caretaker Cardiff boss Mark Hudson.

He claimed the decision was a new interpretation for this season, but it had left him baffled. “I am still trying to work it out,” said Hudson.

“It’s something that has changed this season. I don’t understand it. The referees don’t understand it and it’s not good for the game.”

Gyokeres got lucky too as he had missed an open goal in the fourth minute, but his side clung on to end a run of nine successive away Championship losses.
