Supersub Kelly’s eye for goal gets Matt off the mark

-

MATT TAYLOR heaped praise on Georgie Kelly after he came on to score the winner and guide Rotherham to their first win under the new manager.

The former Bohemians striker poked home in a goalmouth scramble three minutes after replacing

Tom Eaves to claim his second of the season.

It was just reward for the Millers’ second-half performance as they claimed their first home victory over the Terriers in 30 years.

Taylor said: “I am still learning about Georgie – he seems to be a cult hero.

“In terms of impact with physicality, he is second to none. He was almost on his knees when he scored the goal as well. He is still incredibly raw but he’s got something which we like.”

Conor Washington put Rotherham ahead when he curled the ball into the top corner but the lead lasted less than five minutes.

Danny Ward levelled against his old team, slotting home a first-time shot from a low corner by Sorba Thomas.

Huddersfield had penalty appeals waved away when Jack Rudoni went down in front of goal and they remain 23rd.

Boss Mark Fotheringham said: “I was bitterly disappointed to lose two goals like that with things we can affect and I take responsibility as we’ve been working on it all week.

“If we had the killer instinct in the box we could have put the game to bed.”
