Wagner in a huff at drawing a blank

- By NEIL GOULDING REF:

FRUSTRATED Norwich boss David Wagner was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after his side’s stalemate with relegationthreatened Wigan.

The Canaries were the poorer of the two sides and given the gap in league positions, Wagner was justified in his disappointment.

He said: “We were unable to create clear-cut chances and we took too long until we had some moments in ball possession.

“We are not happy with our performance, we know we can play better but if we have to speak positives obviously there’s the clean sheet.

“We were not on our level and this is why we have only got one point.

“We have to look at the performance today, this is our first focus and we have to quickly move forward to ensure we can perform.

“There were moments where we had to get fresh legs on to the grass and the depth we have is big enough for us to compete.

“We have good competition for places but injuries don’t help.”

The Norwich boss showed his displeasure at half-time with a double substitution but it was to no avail.

Meanwhile, Wigan extended their unbeaten run to four games.

Despite a good point against top-quality opposition, Latics boss Shaun Maloney was left to rue his side’s missed first-half chances.

He said: “The biggest disappointment was not coming in at the break ahead – our chances were that good

“It was a different feeling at full-time as we defended so well in the second half.”
