Slick Vik puts the seal on away win
MARK ROBINS believes Viktor Gyokeres is “unplayable” when at his best – and just hopes Coventry can hold on to the striker beyond the summer.
The Swedish forward – linked with Everton, Burnley and Leeds last month – grabbed his 15th goal of the season with a tidy finish to seal the Sky Blues’ first away win since November and increase Rotherham’s relegation fears.
Jamie Allen had controlled and poked in Jake Bidwell’s cutback to give Coventry the lead early in the second half, before Gyokeres collected Gustavo Hamer’s pass deep in stoppage time and rolled a shot into the corner.
Coventry boss Robins said: “Viktor’s powerful, he’s quick, he’s learning the game. He’s 24 and he’s a powerhouse.
“Sometimes he’s unplayable, and if we can work the ball into good positions then you can’t stop him.
“He’ll go higher at some point but hopefully when we’re ready. Hopefully we can keep hold of him until we can start to build around him and see if we can get any closer to the top of the division.”
Rotherham were booed off after a defeat which leaves them two points above the relegation zone and on a run of just two wins in 18 league games.
Jordan Hugill headed in Shane Ferguson’s fourthminute corner only for the goal to be ruled out, and then nodded straight at the Coventry keeper Ben
Wilson when unmarked before the break.
Rotherham boss Matt Taylor said: “The disallowed goal was a travesty, it wasn’t a foul. But we didn’t do enough.”
