Jailed mum turns fashion influencer
A TOWIE-OBSESSED mum jailed after travelling to Syria to join ISIS is now styling herself as a big-brand fashion influencer.
Tareena Shakil, the first British woman prosecuted for joining the terror group, travelled to Syria in 2014 – urging Twitter followers to sign up to its murderous agenda.
In snaps on her phone she posed with Isis-branded clothing and an AK47. She was jailed for six years after returning to the UK in 2015.
Now Tareena is indulging her love of The Only Way is Essex and its glamorous cast by styling herself as a social media fashion guru.
Posting as “That girl Tam Tam”, she has racked up hundreds of Instagram followers with snaps carrying hashtags including “fashion blogger”, “street style” and “style inspo”.
She has also tagged big labels including Bershka and Versace in an apparent bid to get them on board.
Flagging her account as a place for “style” and “motivation”, Tareena
also shares photos of her jet-set lifestyle, with selfies in hotspots such as Milan, Barcelona and Morocco.
One pouting snap is captioned: “She a bad b **** , she ain’t average.”
On another she writes: “How you so elegant and so gang, gang, gang?”
The former healthcare worker was 26 when she left Birmingham for Syria. Once there, she lived in a house with other women waiting to be married to foreign fighters.
But after growing unhappy, she fled to Turkey and returned to the UK. After her arrest she initially claimed to have been kidnapped.
She was jailed for four years at Birmingham Crown Court for ISIS membership and two years for encouraging acts of terror.
Tareena, who was freed in 2019, has described her de-radicalisation as “a long journey”. She said: “I’ve learned from my mistakes and have served my punishment.
“I don’t seek to be an influencer or blogger, I seek to show people you can make it through hard times even when it may seem impossible.”
