NHS worker in compo bid over 50 Shades chat
An NHS worker who said he was frozen out by female colleagues who discussed topics including raunchy novel 50 Shades of Grey has launched a sex discrimination claim.
A tribunal heard Mark Beckles faced a “hostile” working environment and struggled to fit in with co- workers who spoke about the book and grisly TV show Embarrassing Bodies.
The NHS complaints handler told an employment tribunal he was made to feel like an outsider and treated less favourably than female workers at Birmingham City Hospital.
The compo claim of Mr Beckles, from Handsworth, was opposed by the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust and his discrimination allegation denied.
A decision will be made at a later date.
