Sunday Sport

It's all change for RPGTV fans

-

TONIGHT sees the big switch over from Coventry to Henlow live on RPGTV, Sky channel 212.

I caught up with the track’s general manager Lorraine King, who told me: “It is fantastic we have the Sunday night slots.

“We have an initial agreement through to September and have some special plans for the show including a brilliant competition over 550m ‘ The Bunny Bookmakers Gold Cup’ which will be worth £2,500 to the winner.

“We are a small track and have lots of small trainers so this really is fantastic news for all concerned.

“We plan to put on a mixture of open and graded racing, I am sure TV viewers and patrons alike will really enjoy the Sunday slots and thanks to the Sunday Sport for giving us coverage.”

If you have never been it is well worth a journey to Henlow a small friendly track near Hitchin in Hertfordshire. I have had some brilliant nights at the stadium – you’re sure of a warm welcome and fantastic food in the restaurant.

Let’s see if we can find you a winner or two to pay for the trip. Bush Standard and Guinness Dusty are the big names in the 428m contest but I was very impressed with the recent trial of Mannix Pet who should be a big price.

Fields Of Barley can take the 550m maiden contest for Diane Henry. Loughteen Blanco won the Henlow Derby last year and performed well in the Derby so should win his race tonight. At his best he is a real class act.

Blackrose Monach is performing brilliantly and can add another win in the stayers contest.

BEST BETS

Mannix Pet T4 19.07, Fields Of Barley T5 19.37, Loughteen Blanco T4 20.07, Blackrose Monach T3 21.07
