LAST week’s answer was 1974. In this week’s goalden year, Second Division West Ham produced an FA Cup final shock by beating Arsenal, while Wolves made it a double cup surprise, beating hot favourites Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

Cloughie’s ( right) men made up for that by retaining the European Cup. Liverpool were league champions, pipping Man United by two points. The music world was shaken by the deaths of Ian Curtis and John Lennon. Joy Division front man Curtis hanged himself, while Lennon ( right) was shot dead outside his New York apartment.

In news, the SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy in London after a terrorist siege, and the Yorkshire Ripper claims his 13th victim… but what was the year? Answer next week.
