PELLEGRINI’S DECISION TIME ON KOL & TEV

-

MANCHESTER CITY boss Manuel Pellegrini begins work this week and his first job will be to decide if he wants to offload Aleksandar Kolarov and Carlos Tevez.

The Blues are bracing themselves for a double bid from Serie A side Juventus for defender Kolarov and striker Tevez.

City’s hierarchy are prepared to let Kolarov leave for £ 9million. The 27- year- old has grown frustrated as he plays second fiddle to Gael Clichy for the left- back spot.

Pellegrini will decide this week if he is happy to let the Serbia international leave and bring in a younger understudy for Clichy.

Tevez’s situation is far more complex as the Blues continue to try to persuade the Argie ace to stay at the club.

Frayed

The former Man United striker has just 12 months left on his contract and is keen to return to South America next year.

City do not want to allow him to play out his contract as they will receive nothing back from the £ 47m they paid to bring him to the club in 2009.

Tevez signed a fiveyear deal when he arrived but a hiatus last year looked set to bring the curtain down on his time at the Etihad.

Tevez returned before the end of the season to help them to the title, but relations with club officials remain frayed.

Pellegrini will be hoping he can hold talks with Tevez in the next two weeks to convince him to sign a contract extension.

If the Chilean coach fails to nail down the striker, then the club will start listening to offers with Juventus ready to start the bidding at £ 15m.
