MAC BACKS ANDY

-

JOHN McENROE reckons Andy Murray has what it takes to become the first British man in 77 years to win the Wimbledon men’s singles title. The Scot ended a 74-year wait for a home finalist 12 months ago but lost to Roger Federer in four sets. The British No.1 will likely have to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals, Rafa Nadal or Roger Federer in the semis, and then top seed Novak Djokovic in the final – but three-time Wimbledon singles champ McEnroe thinks he’s up to the challenge. “I think this very well could be Murray’s year,” he said. “I was beginning to wonder if he could do it but he won at the Olympics and then the US Open. He’s as confident as he’s ever been and he’s playing great.”
