Legend Ullrich admits doping

-

GERMAN cyclist Jan Ullrich has admitted for the first time that he was doping during his career.

The 39- year- old, Germany’s only Tour de France winner in 1997, was found guilty of doping in 2012 and subsequently admitted to having had contact with controversial Spanish sports doctor Eufemiano Fuentes.

And he has now gone further by revealing that he also “received treatment” from Fuentes.

“Almost everybody back then took performanceenhancing substances,” he said.

“I didn’t take anything which the others weren’t taking.

“For me, betrayal only begins when I gain an advantage, but that was not the case.

“I’m no better than Lance Armstrong, but no worse either.

“I always knew that even Lance would not get away with it.”
