Groves and Froch handed Twitter gag

- LILLO’S RINGPIECE STEVE LILLIS’ KNOCKOUT BOXING COLUMN

HATE rivals Carl Froch and George Groves have been banned from revealing savage TWEETS that they sent each other after their first clash.

IBF and WBA super- middleweight champion Froch controversially stopped the flame- haired Londoner in nine rounds last November.

The pair will go at it again at Wembley Stadium on May 31 in one of the biggest ever all- British battles.

And it’s believed promoter Eddie Hearn has put a block on the pair making themselves look like tweeting twits.

Froch, 36, said: “The tweets have not been

made public for a reason. There is actually a clause in the contract now that stops me talking about the content of those tweets from George Groves.

“I didn’t put that clause in there. He sent me direct messages on Twitter trying to goad me and antagonise me and be a bit silly really. They are childish games.”

Nottngham’s Froch turned professional 12 years ago today, while Groves was a 13- yearold schoolboy.

And “The Cobra” insists he won’t fall for any pre- fight tricks Groves might pull after getting under his skin ahead of their Manchester rematch.

Froch added: “I’d like to say it doesn’t get to me but in the last fight all I wanted to do was punch him in the face.

“When I box I look at my opponent’s gloves because then I know what punches are coming at me.

“But for the first time I was looking at his face. I don’t know why, but I wanted to smack him in the face hard.

“When you go into a fight with that mindset, with that mentality, you’re just loading up looking for the big shot.

“If you’re looking for the big shot you’re not boxing how you should – easy jabs, move, feint. Dissect the opponent in front of you and the KO punch comes.

“Yes, it did upset me because I wanted to punch his head in.

“This time I’m ignoring it. Don’t forget I’ve already been there and done it because I’ve already listened to it all once.”
