illegal cigs FANS of gardening will have been bitterly disappointed last Sunday by the horticulturemeetscookery shambles that was Kew on a Plate.

Set in London’s impressive Kew Gardens, it is presented by French chef Raymond Blanc and gorgeous Springwatch presenter BLANC LOOKS: Raymond with Kate, who once

got ’ em out Kate Humble. The show owes more to Blue Peter than any serious attempt at explain the sacred link between horticulture and our food, partly due to the BBC’s relentless dumbing- down.

But those tuning in would be interested to know that Miss Humble, 46, is more than capable of cultivating growth in male trousers thanks to her appearance in the 1990 TV movie Spymaker, about the life of James Bond creator Ian Fleming.

One gardener said: “I was looking forward to this show but it was a bit shit. Still, Kate Humble’s worth getting your dibber out for.” A JUDGE was asked not to jail an illegal tobacco dealer – because he’s a titanic LARDBUCKET.

Sean Barclay, 43, who weighs in at a morbidly obese 38 stone, was due to appear before a court charged with possession of hookey cigarettes.

However, he wasn’t able to turn up before the judge as officials were unable to find a wheelchair big enough for him in time for his court appearance, according to his solicitor.

Revenue officers raided the Barclay’s home on March 6, 2013 and found two boxes of cigarettes and tobacco with no tax stamp on them.

Barclay, of Letterkenny, Co Donegal, admitted he had bought the smokes from a friend in Derry and knew they were illegal.

At the town’s District Court his solicitor said Barclay accepted what he was doing was wrong but that it was merely a means of making some cash, and pleaded against a jail sentence.

He said: “His health is dire and I am asking the court not to impose a custodial sentence as it will have a devastating effect on him and his health.

The judge imposed a mandatory fine of £ 1,800 as it was Barclay’s second offence.
