TYSON FURY

-

BRITISH heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury took on American Deontay Wilder in the small hours of this morning.

The Gypsy King and The Bronze Bomber, 33, were going head to head at the Staples Cen ter, Los Angeles, at 4am our time.

So here are 10 things you might not know about 30- year- old Tyson…

is descended from an Irish family and was brought up around bare- knuckle bouts. His dad, John Fury, was a well- known fighter in the 1980s and was jailed for 11 years in 2011 for gouging a fella’s eye out during a gypsy clash. TYSON weighed only 1lb at birth and, with a fight to survive, his dad named him after boxer Mike Tyson, who was in his prime at the time – August 1988.

2013, he sparked controversy when he told an interviewer before his first fight at Madison Square Garden that he would “hang” his own sister if she was ever promiscuous. WHEN asked his ideal bare- knuckle opponent, Tyson replied: “Barack Obama. I’d have a bare- knuckle Gypsy fight with him.” DESPITE his hardman exterior, he revealed his favourite film is soppy romance flick The Notebook. ALTHOUGH he was tiny at birth, he’s since grown to 6ft 9ins and has to sleep in a custom made 7ft bed. ON sex, Tyson has said: “Normally, I have sex four or five times a week, but sometimes three or four times a day, depending on how I feel.” HIS family has roots in both Belfast and Galway, but Tyson was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester. HE has argued that performance- enhancing drugs should be permitted, saying: “Why don’t they just make drugs totally legal in sports, then everybody would be taking drugs and then it would be fully fair then, wouldn’t it?” HE caused a storm when he said of women: “I believe a woman’s best place is in the kitchen and on her back.”
