SHE’S had to swap the comfort of the This Morning sofa for the insect- ridden reality of the Australian bush but Holly Willoughby has excelled in I’m A Celebrity.
Presenter Holly, 37, who has replaced boozehound Ant as Dec’s jungle sidekick, is a smash with viewers who revel at her disgust when watching various Bush Tucker Trials.
But, like every woman in the public eye, the blonde mum- of- three has had to run the gauntlet of various sexists who make off- colour online comments.
The latest came last week after she applied peppermint oil to her fingers to prevent herself from throwing up during the grim Bush Tucker trials on Sunday.
As she and Dec Donnelly saw Fleur East splattered with rotten tomatoes and bugs, a ‘ nervous’ Holly sniffed her fragrant fingers.
In a clip not shown on TV, Holly admitted: “We’re dealing with very smelly things. But I planned for this. I’ve got peppermint oil on my fingers.’ That set off the trolls… An online user called the Duke of Wybourne said of Holly’s fingers: “That old chestnut. We know where they have been” – a clear and unsubstantiated claim that Holly may have been diddling her own private parts.
A pal of the presenter said: “Holly is a consummate professional and there’s no way she would be fingering herself at work.”
