Rebecca Carol Adams, 41, was charged with first degree sexual misconduct with a prisoner over the alleged relationship that took place at the Newberry County detention centre in South Carolina.

Arrest documents added that Adams had “wilfully and unlawfully engaged in sexual intercourse ( oral and vaginal)” with Raymond Carwise from March 24 to July 15, 2003.

Carwise had been assigned to the detention centre as an “inmate trustee”.

An investigation into the allegations was requested by the Newberry County sheriff’s office and led to the eventual arrest of Adams by South Carolina cops.

The investigation was first launched in August this year.

Carwise had filed a report with the sheriff’s office, claiming that Adams “engaged in oral and vaginal sex with him” while she was employed by the sheriff’s office.
