The teen was arrested after the attack and initially charged with assault.

Senior officers refused to file a rape case against the accused, saying that a woman could not commit rape according to the law.

The victim, who had come to New Delhi, India, to find work has alleged sodomy against the accused and said she has been subjected to repeated sexual and physical assault.

Now, after intervention by prosecutors, the teen has been charged with rape and four of her pals charged with assisting an offender.

She has been remanded in custody.
