2020 POOR LIST DIRTY BILLY, 59, FORTUNE: £0

-

THE assets have been assessed, the piles of gold and diamonds have been counted – and Britain has a NEW richest person.

Vacuum cleaner guru Sir James Dyson has topped the Sunday Times Rich List for the first time after increasing his net worth by £ 3.6bn in a year.

The Brexit- backing entrepreneur made his fortune with the invention of the bagless vacuum cleaner, which went on sale in 1993.

A self- made man, Sir James, 72, grew up in Norfolk in the 1950s and studied art before his art college principal suggested he go into design.

He replaced the Indian- born businessmen Sri and Gopi Hinduja at the summit of this year’s Rich List.

The current pandemic is being blamed for a fall in the overall wealth of the UK’s richest people.

But while staff at the posh Sunday Times busy themselves counting the baubles and diadems of Britain’s super- rich, here at Sunday Sport,

SEVEN years ago Billy was truly on his uppers.

A three- week Windolene and Tizer spree had reduced his already microscopic fortune even further.

He disappeared from the list in the intervening years – his whereabouts not even known to himself, most likely.

But Billy has finally popped up again, proudly shouting about his return to the Poor List to bewildered seagulls on the Central Pier in Blackpool.

SUPER- RICHEST: Sir James Dyson

we’re a lot more down to earth and in tune with everyday life.

Since 2011, we have compiled the Sunday Sport POOR LIST – an essential compendium of our nation’s truly potless.
