ASKS… WHAT DO YOU think? THIS WEEK: THE NEW ‘PC’ OSCARS

-

WELL, I think it’s a good idea to have more of the gays in films as they don’t really get a shot at being famous do they?

You never see them in films or on the telly.

In fact, I can only think of one, that “shut that door” bloke –

Barry Grayson, was that his name?

Winona Burden,

Batley

I NEVER saw an ethnic, not a real one, in real life, until I was 14 and as for gays – or “homosexuals” as they used to be called – there was no such thing in Yorkshire until 1996.

Nothing against them, though, as long as they stay out of my road. Political correctness? It makes me sick.

Brian Ford, Harrogate

I THINK it’s just typical of the hateful Tories to come up with this idea to try and draw attention to a huge increase in food bank use and spiralling inequality.

I can’t see how changing the Oscars will feed poor, starving, working class BAME and LGBTQQI+ people in Britain though.

John Beardsell,

Wakefield

I LIKE the Oscars but they’ve made a mistake by not promoting more children in films.

I love to see their bright, innocent little faces on screen. There should be more films like The Blue Lagoon, starring the teenage Brooke Shields. A work of art that.

I’m not alone in thinking this – many of my online friends think the same.

Peter Marshall, Batley

THE whole problem can be traced back to Edward Bloody Heath taking us into the Common Market.

And if you believe that Britain has ‘ left’, then you’re more of a bloody fool than you look.

Right, I’ve had my say.

Jim Thurrock, York
