Klopp drops big hint over Thiago move

-

JURGEN Klopp has dropped a major hint that Liverpool will sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

The playmaker has been linked with Anfield since before the Germans beat Paris St Germain in the Champions League final.

No deal has been done yet with the Reds boss saying finances are tight despite winning the title last season.

But the Spain international is keen on the move and his relative bargain price of around £ 20m is proving hard for Klopp to resist. It was thought that the transfer would only happen if Gini Wijnaldum went to join Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

Anfield insiders say that’s unlikely to happen with the player preferring to stay on Merseyside.

That may not kill the Thiago move as Klopp is keen to move on some fringe players.

The likes of Marco Grujic and Xherdan Shaqiri could be sold to get the £ 20m he needs for Alcantara.

When asked about the deal, Klopp said: “If I would invent now a word that would end speculation I think I could become really rich.

“I cannot end speculation as long as the transfer window is open, so that’s all I can say about that.

“Did I mention that Thiago Alcantara is a really good player long ago?

“It’s nice that we are linked with him but that’s pretty much all really, it’s because he’s a good player,

Liverpool’s a big club, so that’s nice.

But apart from that, really nothing to say about it. Maybe good for you I cannot end the speculation.”

Klopp has held talks with Wijnaldum and dropped a big hint that the player would be staying put.

The German added: “ince Gini is here I had, I think, 600 talks with him pretty much. So, that’s exactly the same like always, nothing else to say about that.

“Of course I speak to Gini now he came back from international duty, it’s always like this. That’s all I can say about that.

“It’s absolutely fine about the future as far as we are involved in that.

“I cannot speak about the future in a few years but it’s all fine, it’s all good for the moment.

“Between Gini, me and the club, everything is completely fine.”
