WILL BE BACK!

Spurs boss Nuno convinced misfiring Kane can find his scoring touch again

- By PAUL THOMAS

NUNO Espirito Santo insists misfiring Harry Kane will soon be banging in the goals again.

The England skipper has not scored in the Premier League yet this season and missed out for the Three Lions in the last break.

The drought has come at a bad time given that Kane made it clear that he wanted to sign for Manchester City last summer.

Nuno has only been at Spurs for a couple of months but he’s convinced Kane will find his touch again soon.

The Portugeezer said: “It’s normal, it’s normal. Harry for sure is used to it, but we are relaxed.

“We know that Harry is much more than goals when it comes to what he does for the team.

“He’s a fantastic football player, one of the best, and naturally goals will come.”

Former England striker Chris

Sutton thinks Kane has a moody on and needs to “snap out of it”.

Kane has backed himself, saying: “Obviously, I know there’s been a lot of talk about me. At the end of the day, I’ve still scored nine goals this season.”

But Sutton doesn’t see it that way and thinks the striker needs to get his act together quickly or City will quickly lose interest.

The former Blackburn and England No9 said: “Break that down and the fact you are on the verge of double digits loses its impact.

“The Premier League is where you get critics off your back. That is where the best players are judged.

“Kane needs to snap out of his malaise if he is to stay as undisputed first- choice under Southgate.

“Right now, the back- ups are now knocking down the door. Tammy Abraham is at Roma, scoring intermittently. Ollie Watkins is on a single goal this season. Dominic Calvert- Lewin is still returning from injury. Marcus Rashford is closing in on his first appearance of the campaign.

“But say Kane continues to struggle throughout this campaign and one of his competitors goes on a silly scoring spree, what then?

Ground

“You cannot live off your reputation forever. This is football. It is about results. Kane needs to rediscover his scoring touch if he wants to stay untouchable.”

Jamie Carragher thinks Kane’s game has changed a lot in the past season or so.

He thinks the front man is not covering as much ground as he did when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge at White Hart Lane a couple of seasons ago.

Carra said: “People must be watching a different game. What I’m saying is, he’s a completely different player to that he was under Pochettino.

“I’m watching a different Harry Kane. What he’s doing in terms of dropping off last season was amazing.

“I didn’t see it with England in the summer. It’s similar to like when you watch Ronaldo or Messi. He really conserves his energy.”

Other massive names in the game think Kane is struggling to adapt under Nuno Santo.

Paul Scholes believes the way Spurs are playing now — more on the break — isn’t ideal for their main striker.

He thinks Kane lacks the raw pace needed when you’re the figurehead of a counter- attacking side.

Scholes said: “Tottenham

playing on the counter attack. Harry Kane is not a counter- attack player. He is not quick enough to be that.”

Despite his lack of Premier League goals, there is continued talk of Kane moving on either in January or at the end of the season.

Manchester City are expected to come back with a £ 120m bid for the England skipper in January.

Moneybags

Given his lack of success in a Spurs shirt, the Londoners could be convinced to let him go this time.

Of course, Kane is also being linked with a move to moneybags Newcastle.

That seems unlikely but the Toon could test the water with a major bid after Christmas. Real Madrid are also thought to be interested but the Spaniards are short of cash.

In the meantime, team- mate Eric

Dier is not worried about Kane’s form and knows he will come good. The big defender said: “I don’t know when he is going to score but I’m not really worried about him.

“I know he will and I know he will score a lot.

“So, I am not too worried about Harry. Ever since I have been at Tottenham people have consistently tried to doubt him.

“Even at the Euros, he didn’t score for like the first two games and people were questioning him or even whether he should be in the team, which was just difficult to even understand.”

And Dier is backing Nuno to get things right with the tactics.

He added: “We 100 per cent believe in the manager’s plan.

“We had a tough couple of weeks but as players we need to perform and there are some levels you don’t drop below.”
