Ole’s Gunnar push United up the table

-

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United can turn their stuttering season around.

The Norwegian points to last year when the

Red Devils went on a long streak of games without defeat.

And they had a fantastic away record that stretched to 30 matches without tasting defeat.

Solskjaer insists that United can go on another run like that again.

He said: “We’ve been through periods like this before. Our away form, we’ve just gone 30- odd games and lost one. Last season we turned it around and went on a run of 20- odd games and one defeat, that’s the kind of run we need to get back.

“This week we’ve prioritised a few things we have to improve on. Form and performances haven’t been good enough.

“We can do better, should do better and it’s down to performances on the day, human beings, sometimes you hit the post and it goes out, sometimes it goes in, that can affect the mood, atmosphere.

Safe

“We’ve got to focus on getting the start right.”

And Solskjaer insists he isn’t listening to talk of his job being under threat.

Brendan Rodgers and Zinedine Zidane are both being linked with the Old Trafford hotseat.

The Norwegian said: “Yes I feel safe in the job.

“The players, the staff, myself, the club, we are working to one goal to improve, get

better results, fans are still supporting the team and the club, they’ve been through this period, backed the team through the rebuild.

“When you lose a game you’re always disappointed and under pressure, we’ve been communicating openly and honestly. There’s one game that matters and what goes on after that. This week has been really good for training.”

Solskjaer insists that the players are determined to sort matters out. He thinks he can see a better attitude in training.

He said: “They haven’t had a change of mentality, that’s the wrong way of saying it, they love playing, winning, when we left each other 13 days ago no one was happy when they left Old Trafford.

“But then they enjoy the comp in their countries and this week, it’s been a very determined and focused group, we’ve worked on a few things and hopefully, we see that on the pitch.”
