‘ Sorry’ for Miserable lack of sex
SCREENWRITER Andrew Davies has apologised to fans – because he’s NOT crammed his new adaptation of Les Miserables with lashings of SEX!
Andrew ( above), 82, is the man who added incest to War and Peace, put daddy- issue sex into Westminster drama House of Cards, and reinvented Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice as a hunky Colin Firth.
But he’s not tagged nookie onto Victor Hugo’s story for the BBC adaptation, which stars Dominic West, Olivia Colman, Lily Collins and David Oyelowo.
He explained: “You know, I do think sex is a huge motivation in a lot of these great 19th- century books but not so much in Les Miserables. I don’t think I’ve put a great deal in that wasn’t there. I’m sorry to disappoint.”
His six- parter starts tonight at 9pm.
