SUNDERLAND mixed martial artist Cal Ellenor aka ‘Cal Pacino’ is looking to announce himself on to a global stage - by capturing the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) interim bantamweight world title next weekend.

With dreams of eventually making the UFC, winning the title in South Africa’s top MMA promotion would be a huge statement from the top British prospect. Ellenor, of Roker and fighting out of Sunderland’s Team Fish Tank gym, goes in against Luthando Biko in Cape Town South Africa next Saturday.

Ahead of the bout he said: “I fought for the second time in South Africa in March.

“It is an absolutely incredible place and the atmosphere in my last fight was electric - especially com- ing away with a fantastic win. I am planning on doing the same next month and bringing back a world title to the North East.”

Ellenor is 7-1 in his pro MMA career to date, boasting an impressive six first-round stoppages.

He will look the part in South Africa during fight week, kitted out in impressive suits by sponsor Master Debonair - an award-winning independent menswear retailer based in Boldon.

Ellenor is hoping with their help, he will be able to add a new belt to compliment their suits.

He added: “I would like to say a personal thanks to Eve and Simon at Master Debonair for bringing me on board and showing me continued support through my MMA journey.” clothing
