Morien bags hat-trick to Kill rivals’ bid

CUP matches dominated the outlook of the Alliance Premier yesterday.

Malcolm Morien notched a hat-trick for Killingwor­th as they won 6-1 at home to Alnwick Town, the other three arriving through Liam Hudson, Konner Lamb and Sam Bramley.

Keith Douglas hit a double for Newcastle University as they came from behind to win 3-1 at Seaton Delaval, Andrew Anderson having opened the scoring from the spot early on. Lefteris Alambritis added a third in the second half.

In the Trophy Gateshead A progressed on the back of a 4-3 win at home to Coxhoe Athletic while Gateshead Rutherford were stunned in their game, losing 6-2 at home to Hartlepool FC.

Two games were played in the Premier Division with FC United of Newcastle taking the plaudits with a 4-3 win at home to New Fordley. Ryan McAvoy (two), Dillon Swann and a late effort from Anthony Dobie gave FC United the points although Ryan Fenwick made for an interestin­g finale after two from Jordan Watson.

Three penalties were despatched as Percy Main came from behind to win 3-1 at Shankhouse – Andrew Anderson opened the scoring from the spot before further spotkicks, either side of the break, from Ryan Laws put Main in control, Joe Rowan sealing the win late on.

Blyth Town maintained their First Division lead with a comfortabl­e 4-0 win away to Seaton Burn, while Cullercoat­s enjoyed a 2-0 win at home to Bedlington in their top three clash.

Six different scorers featured as Prudhoe Youth Club hit Felling Magpies for six without reply, Sam Dibb-Fuller and Luke Banks affording the hosts a two-goal interval lead, The second half was pretty much one-way traffic as further goals were netted by David Burns, Brad Rogers (penalty), Ben and Matty Bloomer.

Only one goal separated the games at Forest Hall and Hexham, as Kane Chirnside gave Hall the win over Community and Tom Hacking earned Hexham the points against Boys Club whilst Newcastle East End still search their first points in a 5-3 reverse at home to Gosforth Bohemians.

Rothbury narrowly remain top of the Second after being held to a 2-2 draw by Willington Quay Saints. They are chased by Cramlingto­n United, who beat Redheugh 6-1, and Whitley Sporting Club, who edged a five-goal game at Blyth FC.
