Super-slimmer sheds st still a self-confessed salad

‘PINGING’ PANTS BUTTON WAS FINAL STRAW

Reporter BENDING over, a button flew off Yvette Gough’s size 24 pants.

That day, she said: “Enough is enough”, and joined Slimming World. The 34-yearold has since shed almost half her body weight – and dropped eight dress sizes.

A self-confessed salad dodger, she’s dropped the pounds while still enjoying curry and pulled pork.

But she’s now kept the weight off for a year – while bagging a string of awards.

“I’d always been bigger but I’d never realised how bad it had got,” admitted Yvette. “I couldn’t even run for a bus. “I was always the bigger one at school. People would tell me I’m big boned but I knew I was fat.” That hit home hardest at work, when the Sainsbury’s cafe worker’s button “pinged” off.

“I was mortified and thought it had to stop,” said Yvette, of Backworth, who would regularly scoff fish and chips and pizzas as “easy-fix” teas.

A friend joined Slimming World. Yvette had done it before – and other diets – but had never managed to see it through.

“But I was in the zone this time,” she said.

And she kidding.

She’d dropped two stone before joining. But, with the class’s support, the weight fell off her. wasn’t

In total, she’s now lost an inspiratio­nal eight stone. Running helped, with Yvette using the “Couch to 5K” app.

She is now enjoying a new lease of life – having already experience­d one of her lowest points. Tragically, her brother died in 2009, and on the day she said goodbye her size caused her further heartache.

“When I was going to the funeral I was in the car, and I couldn’t sit how normal people sit, I had to sit on my hip,” she recalled.

At her biggest, she was between a size 22 and 24. Now, she can fit into YVETTE GOUGH
