Fashion store set to close down

-

FASHION store Peacocks could pull the shutters on two of its biggest Teeesside branches for good.

Staff at the clothing chain are facing an uncertain future after ‘closing down’ posters appeared in the windows of its Middlesbrough stores at Cleveland Retail Park and Captain Cook Square.

The signs also read ‘subject to landlord negotiations.’

But bosses at Captain Cook Square say the closures are far from a done deal.

Lynn Stainsby, Captain Cook Square manager, said: “We are in talks with Peacocks, hopefully there will be a positive outcome.

“Everybody knows from national press that rents and rates are a focus - and the landlord is being as helpful as he can.”

Frankie and Benny’s restaurant closed at Cleveland Retail Park in September and Poundworld and Bargain Buys also shut their doors at the park this year when the retailer went into administration.

One of the units they vacated was recently snapped up by Poundland.

Peacock’s also has stores at Stockton, Coulby Newham and Redcar.

Teesside Live has approached Peacock’s for comment.
