Malcom at the double as Killy keep up the pace

-

A SECOND-HALF brace by Killingworth hitman Malcolm Morien set up next week’s big game nicely as they eased to a 4-0 win away to lowly FC United of Newcastle.

Killy took an interval lead with goals from Konner Lamb and Liam Hudson to narrow the gap to inactive leaders Newcastle University to 11 points ahead of next weekend’s top-two clash.

And with other Premier Division games postponed around them, it was a good day for the second-placed side, who are now nine unbeaten.

A solo effort from Connor Gales gave Percy Main all three points at Ponteland while goals from Chindra, Salkeld and Outterside earned Gateshead A victory at home to top-10 side Shankhouse.

Newcastle Chemfica’s recent form continued when they won 3-2 at North Shields Athletic.

The hosts led at the break via Marcelinha Junior, a lead they held until the final quarter when Dan Sherliker equalised and Steve Mclaughlin turned the game on its head. Karl Morrison levelled for Athletic with eight minutes left – but Mclaughlin would have the final say three minutes from time.

Of the two games played in the First Division, a second-half brace from Reece Moore gave hosts Felling Magpies a 2-0 win over Wallsend Community. Forest Hall and Seaton Burn drew 1-1, Ritchie Lattimer and Pearce Haslet scoring.

A goal in each half from John Campbell proved insufficient for lowly Cramlington Town when they hosted high-flying Rothbury in the Second Division.

James Loughborough pulled one back before the break and Tony Brown got the equaliser midway through the second.

Daniel Thompson then popped up with the winner nine minutes from time as Rothbury went back to the top of the table.

Whitley Sporting Club fell to a 3-0 defeat away to Spittal Rovers and there were goals aplenty as Blyth won 6-0 away to Stobswood, all the goals arriving in the opening half-hour with Joe Moscrop bagging a hat-trick.

Meanwhile Willington Quay Saints won 5-1 away to Gateshead Redheugh.

Numerous cup matches were also played as Burradon progressed in the Bill Gardner Cup courtesy of an Isbister goal in extra-time away to Wideopen.

Cullercoats top scored with ten as they dismissed hosts Gosforth Bohemians Reserves 10-2.

Liam Anderson scored four as Wallsend Boys defeated Wooler 7-0 and Prudhoe Youth Club won their derby match with Hexham 4-1, Kieran Russell with a brace.
