Taylor treble as Moor merrier
ALFRETON TOWN SPENNYMOOR 1 7
GLEN Taylor’s hat-trick was the catalyst for Spennymoor Town’s emphatic 7-1 away at Alfreton Town, writes STUART DICK.
Stephen Brogan, Jamie Chandler, Shaun Tuton and Andrew Johnson also hit the target in a thoroughly dominant performance, Reece Styche netting a consolation two minutes before the break.
Spennymoor moved up to fifth in the table, extending their unbeaten run to six games – scoring 15 goals in their last 180 minutes of football.
A handball in the area gave Town the perfect opportunity to opening the scoring in the sixth minute, and Taylor duly obliged.
Another set-piece brought the second in the 33rd minute, Brogan lashing in a free-kick from 18 yards. Within a minute Spenny had a third, Chandler converting a deflected Taylor strike from close range.
Styche pulled a goal back before the break with a header, but Taylor nodded home a Johnson cross then completed his hat-trick 10 minutes after the break from Brogan’s corner.
In the 63rd minute Tuton latched on to a poor back pass to calmly finish, Johnson putting the ball into an empty net to complete the rout.
