Campbell to take on English races

NORTHUMBERLAND lightweight race ace Scott Campbell is preparing to tackle the English clubs next season after cleaning up in Scotland this year.

Campbell, of Haltwhistle, was crowned both Scottish and Knockhill Motor Sport Club champion this season and narrowly missed out on taking the Melville title too.

And now he’s decided to pit himself against some of England’s fastest Supertwin riders next year.

“I’ve had a great couple of years racing in Scotland since I’ve come off the roads, and getting the Scottish and KMSC titles this year meant the world to me,” he said.

“However, I think I need a change now. I’m after a new challenge and I’d like to race at some different circuits. It’ll be a good chance to see how I can go up against a whole new bunch of riders and bikes.”

Campbell is perhaps better known in racing circles for his time spent racing on the roads. But after calling time on his roads career a few years ago, he has instead been racing his Supertwin machine in the Scottish clubs.

After clinching two of the three series he had entered this year, Campbell knows the next natural step is to return to the English clubs.

His plan is to enter a number of NG Road Racing events and will also head to some Thundersport GB meetings.
