STOCKTON TOWN SHILDON

WHICKHAM BISHOP AUCKLAND

WEST AUCKLAND TN NORTH SHIELDS 1 3

SHILDON secured an impressive win at Stockton Town as two goals from Aiden Heywood put the Railwaymen on track for a 3-1 win at the Coverall Stadium.

Both sides had chances in the opening 20 minutes as Nathan Steel went close for the visitors and Billy Greulich-smith almost found his own net when he deflected a corner goalwards.

But the forward made an impression at the right end of the pitch as he headed Shildon in front just a minute before half-time.

He turned provider two minutes into the second-half when his cross found Heywood to allow the former Team Northumbria player to wrong-foot Anchors keeper Michael Arthur.

Heywood doubled his tally and stretched Shildon’s advantage to three on 66 minutes as he took advantage of some generous defending to curl the ball home.

Winger Kevin Hayes reduced the arrears, but the visitors had done more than enough for victory.

BISHOP Auckland’s impressive season continued as they strolled to a comprehensive win at Whickham.

There were 15 minutes on the clock when the Two-blues got themselves in front.

An inch-perfect cross from Michael Hoganson found the head of Kyle Patton and he made no mistake from close-range.

Hoganson got himself on the scoresheet six minutes before half-time as the raced through on goal and placed the ball through the legs of Whickham keeper Dan Lister.

Whickham were handed a route back into the game just after the half-hour mark as a handball saw them awarded a penalty, but Nick Liversedge kept out Lewis Teasdale’s spot-kick to preserve his side’s two-goal advantage.

Ian Chandler’s side always looked comfortable and they gave the scoreline a similar look when a fine Hoganson free-kick and a goal in injury-time from Jamie Marshall eased them home at the Glebe.

NORTH Shields continue to exceed expectations by heading into Christmas in Division One’s top four.

The game started in lively fashion and the Robins went close with chances from Callum Johnson and Sean Mcroberts.

They finally went in front midway through the first-half as Ryan Carr’s clinical finish edged them in front when their hosts were starting to get on top.

Adam Burnicle and David Dowson came close to getting West back on level-terms, but the visitors held on to their lead at the interval. And things got even better for Marc Nash’s side when Carr doubled his advantage and their lead on 56 minutes.

Dowson halved the deficit on the hour-mark with his first goal for West and that signalled the start of some heavy pressure from his side but the Robins made it three league wins in a row.
