THEY love each other to the moon and back.

And for David Jameson and Janine Routledge, the stars really did align on Saturday.

The lunar lovebirds couple tied the knot at Newcastle’s Life Science Centre – the first wedding at the venue’s new moon exhibition.

And 44-year-old David previously told the Sunday Sun it was the “icing on the cake” to a whirlwind five months in which he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his spine – before successfully completing treatment.

And naturally, the Whitley Bay newlyweds were over the moon with how the space-themed ceremony went.

“It was very emotional and tearful,” said Tara Robson, meetings and events coordinator at the venue.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the room – including mine!”

The 4pm ceremony was staged under the stars at the planetarium, before pictures and dinner for over 70 guests.

The event’s celestial theme was everywhere – even the cake, which had nine planets projecting out on sticks.

“We’ll be walking down the aisle to Life on Mars, which is one of our favourite songs,” said Janine, previously.

And the evening reception was staged under the exhibition’s centrepiece, a gigantic 20ft replica of the moon.

As guests prepared to party, Tara said the space-theme had “tied in really well” with the day.

“It was a beautiful ceremony and the bride looked absolutely stunning,” she added.

Now the couple will head to the Lake District for their honeymoon – where Janine, 36, proposed to David in October.

She popped the question after dad-oftwo David received the devastating diagnosis after complaining of back pain.

But after gruelling treatment at the Freeman Hospital, the couple are now excited to start a new chapter in their decade-long romance.

“The treatment is finished and we can get back to normal,” said David previously.

“And the wedding is the icing on the cake, a positive book-end to a whole year.

“It’s a nice happy ending.”
