Taco eatery to open new outlet

-

IT has brought the real taste of Mexico to Shields Road.

Now Chucho’s, the Newcastle taco restaurant which took Byker by storm, is set to open in Jesmond.

The company has revealed plans to open its second site in Acorn Road – and it could happen very soon.

Since opening in 2017, the Mexican restaurant has proved a smash with foodies. It has shot to the top of Tripadvisor, where it is currently the number one place on Tyneside for a quick bite.

Now plans have been revealed for a second, larger, site. A licence application to Newcastle City Council shows the company wants to stay open until 11pm each day bar Sunday.

While alcohol will be sold, applicant Jesus Tavizon Sosa insists it will only be served with food.

“We will not tolerate any drunken or unruly behaviour on the premises,” he wrote on the application, adding CCTV will be used.

“We obtained a licence for our premises on Shields Road in September 2017 – we have never had any issues.”

The Sunday Sun attempted to contact the Byker branch for further comment, but a manager wasn’t immediately available.

And while it isn’t known when the venue will open, the licence application states bosses would like the permit to run from March 8. However it is unlikely to open as soon as then.

A Newcastle City Council spokesperson said a public consultation over the licence won’t close until March 18. The authority confirmed there had been no objections to date.
