A BRAVE mum who has overcome cancer three times has vowed to never let the “terrible disease” beat her.
In 2001, Jackie Pexton’s world was turned upside down after she found a lump in her breast, which she was later told was cancer.
Raising her eldest daughter Shannon, who was just four years old at the time, alone, she feared the worst.
The 52-yearold, from Kenton, Newcastle, said: “It was a really tough time for me and I felt alone and overwhelmed.
“I was grateful to have a Macmillan nurse keeping in regular contact and they became an invaluable source of reassurance and information when I was so young in such a vulnerable position.”
After beating cancer, Jackie’s world was shattered again in 2007 when she found a lump on her other breast.
This time, feeling prepared to fight, the strong mum bravely battled through her treatment to overcome the disease.
But in August 2019, Jackie was told she had stomach cancer after she experienced a migraine followed by pain in her abdomen.

Jackie started having chemotherapy and then her stomach was removed entirely, which resulted in her making some substantial changes to her lifestyle and diet.
Now continuing to make a full recovery, Jackie has check-ups every six months and is in the vulnerable category for the current coronavirus crisis and must stay indoors for 12 weeks.
