while they also set about securing the return of popular figures from the club’s past.

Within days of seizing control, the supporter-led consortium confirmed the return of general manager Alisha Henry, and former chairman Graham Wood was named as the club’s new president.

The return of key figures continued last month when club legend Ben Clark took up a key role within the academy and has taken up a position as community officer of Gateshead FC Foundation.

Slowly, but surely, the reputation that took such a hit under the club’s former owners is being restored and Pinkerton insisted that the Heed are doing all they can to become a “credible alternative” to the North East’s Premier League and EFL clubs.

He explained: “Two of the biggest things are the community and getting local businesses to buy into the community

SHILDON manager Daniel Moore and assistant manager Mark Hudson have signed new two-year deals with the Northern League Division One club.

The Railwaymen duo helped the club to the brink of securing one of the three promotion places on offer before the season was voided as the coronavirus epidemic spread around the country.

Despite their obvious disappointment at missing out on promotion in such unusual circumstances, Shildon have already begun planning for the return to action with the signing of Blyth Spartans striker Michael Sweet club we want to be. We have the International Stadium, which is a great facility, and we have the college, so we have a good foundation to build on.

“We have had three sets of owners in three years and that creates a breakdown in communications, and they have had to be re-established.

“We have had lots of feedback from people that have come back and said what a different feel there is at the club.

“That’s the volunteers that run the matchday, the people that experience hospitality, the businesses that are getting involved once again and other potential sponsors.

“We are trying to make ourselves a and Whitby Town defender Alex White.

That planning has now continued with the news that Moore and Hudson have committed to extending their stay at Dean Street and club chairman David Dent revealed his delight at the duo’s decision.

He told the club website: “We have unfinished business and both Daniel and Mark want to see the project through.

“I’m delighted that they’ve decided to stay.

“They are still only young, and I can see them managing Shildon at a good alternative to the Premier League and Football League clubs in the region on and off the pitch.” Despite the uncertainty surrounding when it will be safe to return to National League North action, planning to retain and add to the current Heed squad is already under way.

Discussions have taken place with existing members of Williamson’s squad and the management team are working hard to identify transfer targets that will help the club build on their performances of the last nine months.

The early preparation to retain and enhance the squad is a far cry from the swift work that Williamson and Watson had to undertake in the transfer much higher level, but for now it represents stability at the club which is a cornerstone for most successful teams”

Moore added: “Myself and Mark are delighted to commit to the club for another two years.

“We have worked hard, built a team and a fantastic dressing room alongside the vision of the chairman that would achieve promotion, unfortunately that has not happened.

“This has made us even more determined to go one better next year alongside another crack at the market last summer to ensure they had a squad ready for the start of the 2019/20 National League North campaign.

Pinkerton praised the Heed managerial team for the structure they have put in place during their time in charge and revealed that the board of directors are “fully supportive of their methods”.

He said: “There is an eagerness to get going with the squad and we understand that.

“We have players under contract at the moment and it’s a case of having a cautious approach going forwards.

“The management want everything done as soon as possible, but we also have to make the right moves.

“Last season, we came to the party late, but now we can get a head start and I am confident that we will make the most of that.

““The next few weeks could be interesting.”

Vase. We have lots of time to prepare and that began the minute the season stopped.

“All I ask is for the same support. The supporters and this club run through me and I will give everything I can to bring it success”

Shildon have also revealed that they have retained the vast majority of the squad that performed admirably throughout last season.

However, the Railwaymen did confirm that defender Dale Mulligan and midfielder Aaron Duell have been released.
