Scaffolding climb arrest
A LARGE-SCALE emergency response including the police helicopter were called to Newcastle city centre after a man was seen climbing scaffolding.
The man had started scaling the outside of the building on Clayton Street West where works had been taking place.
Police and firefighters were called out just after 3.30pm on Friday and the road was closed to traffic.
The man was brought down and arrested.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 3.39 pm today we received a report of a concern for a male at Clayton Street
West, Newcastle.
“Emergency services, including NPAS [National Police Air Service], attended and helped rescue the 27-year-old male who was arrested for a public nuisance offence and is currently in police custody.”
